Bearcat Online Advanced E-Mail Features
Access Control
You may specify who can access, read, and use your Bearcat Online account. There are varying levels of account access that give other users rights to your e-mail. Ultimately, however, you are responsible for the activity on your Bearcat Online account. Therefore, it is very important that appropriate confidentiality and security considerations are given when deciding which rights to grant other users. Below is a brief description of what privileges are granted at each level of the Access Control List :
Read
This allows designated individuals to open your messages and read them, as well as determine which messages you have or have not read.
Write
In addition to the privileges of read access, individuals with write permissions may make modifications to and send messages on your behalf as well as delete individual messages.
Administrative
Administrative permissions allow designated individuals all of your user privileges, including the ability to add and delete folders and adjust the access control list for other users.
To change the access settings on your account, click <Options> on the menu on the left side of the screen.

Click <Access Control> at the top of the screen.

Select a folder from the drop down menu.

Enter the username of the person to whom you are granting access.
Assign rights.
 Click <Ok>.
POP Mail
Click <External Mail> on the menu on the left side of the screen.

You will receive the following message:
 Click “Add Pop Server” at the top of the screen.
Enter the following information:
Account Description, e.g., personal.
POP Server (Contact your ISP if you do not know.)
Username for the account you are adding
User Password for the account you are adding
Confirm Password for the account you are adding
Port number (Contact your ISP if you do not know.)

Optional:
If you want messages to remain on the POP server after you have accessed them - in other words, if you want to be able to access your messages from both inboxes - select “Leave messages on POP Server.”
If you want only new messages to be accessed by the POP server, select “Get new messages only.”
Select “Inbox Using Filters” if you would like POP messages to be filtered.
Select “Mail Color” if you do not want POP messages to appear in the default color (green).
Click <Done>.
Other accounts will be checked through the “External Mail” page.
Message Filters
You may select or move your messages according to pre-specified criteria. This is called mail filtering.
To filter your mail, click <Options>.

Click <Message Filters> on the menu at the top of the screen.

Select “All Messages” under “Filter Conditions” to apply the specified filter to all messages, or specify your parameters from the drop down menus under “If all of these conditions are met.”
Enter the text you want the system to use for comparison when filtering.
Under “Filter Actions,” specify the action you want the system to take.
Click <Ok>.
Junk Mail Filter
Click <Options> on the menu on the left side of the screen.

Click <Junk Mail Control> at the top of the screen.

Click <Junk Mail Filter> next to “White List”.

Under “Select a Filter Condition”, select either “Normal” or “Exclusive”.
Selecting “Normal” will filter only junk/spam mail. Selecting “Exclusive” will filter all mail received from addresses not on your white list.
Designate a response in the server action area. Please note that if you choose “Discard”, incoming messages matching the the filter criteria will be deleted and irretrievable.

Click <Ok> when finished.
White List
Click <Options> on the menu on the left side of the screen.
Click <Junk Mail Control> at the top of the screen.

Enter the e-mail addresses you would like to add to your white list.
Click <Add>.

To remove an e-mail address from the white list, highlight the name in the white list box and click <Remove>.
Import/Export Address Book
Click <Address Book> on the menu on the left side of the screen.

Click <Import/Export> at the top of the screen.

Select the file type, either LDIF or CSV.

Click <Browse>.
Select a category from the drop down menu.
Click <Import Now>, to import or <Export Now> to export.
