UC Flex Upgrade Implemented

On June 2nd, the university completed the implementation of an upgraded version of UC Flex, UC's integrated system for human resources and financial processes. As UC Flex is based on the SAP product line, this required upgrade protects the university’s investment in SAP’s Financial and Human Capital Management components.
This technical upgrade completely changed the system's infrastructure and provides the foundation for all future modifications. Leveraging a new SAP-provided framework, we were able to eliminate some custom code, which will make future system upgrades easier.
The new framework enables Finance and Human Resource administrative units to more easily take advantage of new enhancements and features that fit the university business model. The Employee Self Service (ESS) feature shows improved reliability, performance, and a better look and feel. Soon, we will implement a new environment for Management Self Service (MSS), and over time, based on business office schedules, resources, and feature requirements and prioritization, we will implement additional enhancements.
This upgrade took several months to complete and involved a substantial amount of effort and dedication from a team composed of employees from UCit, Business Core Systems, and many university administrative offices. The project's success is directly attributed to the combined efforts of all of these groups.
The effort was well worth it as this new system has positioned the university to make the most out of its investment in UC Flex.
