Fred Siff is Vice President & CIO, and Professor of Information Systems in the College of Business, at the University of Cincinnati. He is the University officer responsible for coordination of technology architecture, policy development, and provision of information technology services (including computing, telecommunications, administrative and academic systems and associated support services) for the University. Prior to coming to UC in October 1998, he held similar positions at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and George Mason University. His undergraduate degree is in Mathematics and both his Master's and Ph.D. are in Operations Research from New York University.
He is actively involved with a number of educational transformation projects at UC and teaches a graduate seminar in the MS-IS program entitled "CIO IT Forum" in which corporate CIO's speak on a common subject, most recently IT strategic planning.
He was instrumental in developing Cincinnati's regional fiber ring (CERF), was on the original committee creating Ohio's Third Frontier Network, currently working on developing the state-wide shared services model entitled Ohio's Digital Commons. He is a member of the Advisory Board of Blackboard, Inc., and of SAP's Higher Education and Research Advisory Council.
